  1. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, “He who through faith is righteous shall live.”
    Romans 1:17

It helps when interpreting this quote if we keep in mind that St. Paul is a trained Taanaic Rabbi. In Hebrew and Aramaic the word for Justice/ Righteous, and charity are the same word, Tzadic. The idea comes from the exodus. Remember what it was like to be oppressed and remember your rescue. Doing this, we are reborn into a new life. Remembering our oppression the bad memories hurt us when we see others suffer we take action. Remember our rescue means that we take action for God and without being vindictive. Also, faith and truth are the same word, Ameth from which we have Amen.

That being the case, the passage could also be translated: the charity of God is revealed through God’s inner truth for faith; as it is written, “He who through intimacy with the inner truth of God is charitable shall live.” Your thoughts?
    Romans 1:17
