An Octave of Prayer and Fasting
In anticipation of the Twenty-Second General Synod of the Polish National Catholic Church, the Church calls on and enjoins all the faithful to undertake an octave of prayer and fasting.
Prayer and fasting are to be offered so that the Church may be one in prayerful spirit before our God, and that the work of the Holy Synod may truly represent the Will of God for the Holy Church.
I will be posting the recommended series of prayers to the Holy Spirit from Sunday, October 1st through Sunday, October 8th.
I ask all my readers and all brothers and sisters in faith to pray with and for us.
So can you tell us if there’s anything really big on the agenda of this meeting?
The big issue on the agenda is the election of four candidates for bishop.
Note that in the PNCC, the Synod elects candidates for bishop. The actual approval and consecration of those men, as well as their appointment to a diocese, is to the discretion of the Prime Bishop.
There are various criteria candidates must meet (length of service as a priest, administrative know-how, an examination on theology and doctrine, married only once – i.e., no history of divorce in the priest’s and his wife’s life, and some others).
There are the usual constitutional proposals on the agenda as well.
Dziękuje!
