Saints and Martyrs

April 17 – St. Anselm of Canterbury (Św. Anzelm)

O Boże bądź moja siła w każdej sprawie, w każdem utrapieniu, w każdej pokusie, w każdej niemocy, w każdem niebezpieczeństwie, jakoś wspomagał św. Anzelma. Umocnij mię w wierze, nadziei i miłości, i doprowadź łaską swoją do wiecznej radości. Amen.

  1. Completely unrelated to the martyr Anselm (although he is a saint we Anglicans venerate quite intensely), I was thinking of you this weekend. Fr. Brian+ and I went off to Passaic, NJ to do some shopping on Holy Saturday. Although we had a major trip to the local “Priests R Us” shoppe in town, we stopped by Janek’s butcher and Polonia bakery. Father always gets kielbasa, rye bread, and poppy strudel before Easter over there. Passaic still has a strong Polish presence, and it has some of the best Polish food shoppes in the entire state.

I told him of our acquaintance online, and he admitted that the best history written on our parish…was written by the PNCC. He had a PNCC priest preach at our anniversary a few years back. (I admit I cannot remember his name, although I do know he died of cancer a few years afterward.)

    Anyhow, happy Easter!

  2. John,

I’m going to take a look at a few of the old history books over at the parish. If I find anything, I’ll copy it and send it to you.

BTW – I absolutely love poppy seed roll (makowiec). Our late bishop’s wife made the best!. There’s an on-line recipe I found at Recipe-Zaar.

Happy Easter to you as well – and a happy dyngus day.
