April 4 – St. Isidore of Seville (Św. Izydor)
Za przyczyną św. Izydora, biskupa, racz nam dać Wszechmogący Boże tę łaskę, abyśmy nigdy pychą i dumą nie wynosili się, lecz naśladowali maluczkich i pokornych, którym objawiłeś tajemnice niebieskie. Przez Chrystusa Pana naszego. Amen.
I thought I would bring this up. You and I recently discussed the PNCC being a pro-life church and how some of the independent movement churches are not. Well, for one of my current seminary courses I have been assinged to write on the history of a church found in the US. I chose the Evangelical Lutheran Church. I interviewed a local pastor (female) and my jaw hit the floor when she told my abortion is allowed in the ELCA! What is going on? Putting issues like women’s ordination and homosexuality etc. aside for a moment and think of what they are saying! The ELCA does not hold life to be sacred! How can a church even define itself as a Christian church if they do not even hold life to the upmost importance? I was saddened to learn this, in the meantime I have been searching for an official statement by the ELCA just to make sure that this is not just the feelings of a liberal New England Synod church. Christ must be dissapointed!
See: ELCA Social Statement on Abortion.
This is the tendency among many mainline Protestant organizations. I think the Missouri Synod is far more conservative, but I’ve not really researched that.
